Feast Days in Av

Rosh Chodesh (Head of the month) – Av 1 (July 22, 2020)
9th of Av (July 30, 2020)
More Info
This month is linked with the Hebrew letter Tet, which is seen as a snake coiled up or as a womb. The constellation of the month is Leo – the lion. The tribe of Simeon is linked with the month of Av. The color/stone for the month is Green/Emerald.
This is the month that the lion roars (Amos 3:8). The name of this month means Father and the root of the word means “to will” or “to desire”. Historically the 9th of Av is time of persecution for the Jewish people. Yet the letter of this month has a dual nature of death (coiled snake) and life (womb) so while there is historically a history of grief there is also promise of hope and life.
